Still Life I wrapped artificial fruit and vegetable and painted over them through observation of real fruit and vegetable then stretch them over stretcher bars. I try to create a new perspective that includes the 360-degree view of an object, which can only be done by sculpture previously.
The surface of canvas is used as an information-recording device, like a 3D scanner. The volumes of individual objects are preserved in the painting as a part of faithful rendering. The composition of the piece created by the arrangement of individual paintings outside of picture planes, which mimics the real still life setup. Furthermore, the overall painting isn’t completely flat nor spatial and isn’t completely abstract nor realistic, which builds a bridge in between Abstraction and Realism.
Counter-Still Life I took still life paintings and transformed them into negative paintings. The color negative painting is intended to depict a space changed by an object through colorful casting shadow. This group together forms a color chart, which reminds the viewer about the everyday colors that tendency of ignoring them because of our language.
